Hands On makes it easy for everyone to get involved

Need flexibility?

Hands On Managed Projects are led by a trained volunteer Project Coordinator, generally last 2-3 hours and don't require a long-term commitment.

Want to make a regular commitment?

Find a longer term or specialized opportunity with one of our non-profit partners.

Volunteer as a family Include your kids and make a positive difference in the community with your whole family. We have projects for all ages, 5+, 12+, 16+.

Teen volunteers

There are lots of ways to get involved on your own or with friends. Once we get a signed Youth Waiver on file, you can search for projects by age: 14, 15, 16, 17.

Be a Hero. Become a Project Coordinator.

You don't have to be a super-hero to help make real change in our community. Become a Project Coordinator with Hands On.

Help someone during the holiday season

Make the holidays brighter for someone else by giving your time and treasures this year.

Volunteer from home

Hands On offers projects that can be done from various locations (some can be done from home!). We even have a few "portable projects" that give you all the information you need to do the project on your own or with a group of friends.

Volunteer as a group

Volunteering as a group is a great way to build team-work, have fun, and make a difference. Hands On makes it easy to find projects for your group.

Tools for Teachers and Parents

Volunteering is a great way to instill a spirit of service in children. Hands On has tools for finding age-appropriate projects and creating learning experiences for younger volunteers.

Volunteer with a specific organization

We work with nearly 200 nonprofit partners in Asheville and Buncombe County to bring you projects and volunteer activities throughout the year.

Change of Plans?

Did you know that 20% of our volunteer slots are filled up by people who never show up? We understand that plans change.

When you find out that you cannot attend a volunteer event it is very important to do two things:

1. Let the volunteer leader know that you cannot attend the project. His or her contact info will be in the email you received confirming your project registration.

2. Remove yourself from the project, so someone else can sign up to take your place. It’s easy. Just  log in to your account, click  on “My Projects" and then click “Remove me.”

Keeping us posted on whether you can attend your project is an easy way to help us make a 20% bigger impact in the community.
