Support Student Success from Behind the Scenes.

Help students overcome barriers to success by becoming a Scribe. There are times when a student is unable to complete an exam/test due to a disability. A scribe would write down verbatim what students say for exam/testing purposes.  Readers would read the test questions aloud to the student. There are times the same person would complete both tasks during an exam/test.

This is a good opportunity for a volunteer who loves being in the classroom and has an affinity for working with individuals who have a disability.

Skills: Good, legible penmanship. Clear speaking voice, with appropriate inflection.

Times:  Dependent on student's need. Volunteers are most needed during the academic year from mid-August through mid-May.

Locations: Opportunity is available on our main campus, A-B Tech South and Madison site.

All A-B Tech volunteers must complete a volunteer application, background check and attend a short one-hour new volunteer orientation.
