Who We Are
Mission: To provide safe, quality, and affordable housing, to expand available resources, and to collaborate with the community to create opportunities for resident self-reliance and economic independence.
The Housing Authority of the City of Asheville (HACA) was established in 1940 to address the need for affordable housing in the area. HACA provides a range of housing options, including public housing developments, Housing Choice Vouchers (Section 8), and various project-based rental assistance programs. The authority manages more than 1,500 units of public housing, serving low-income families, seniors, and individuals with disabilities.
What We Do
The authority is also committed to addressing systemic challenges, such as racial and economic inequities, by working closely with local partners to support affordable housing development and reduce homelessness.
