Mission: To promote resilient forests, clean waters, and healthy communities throughout Western North Carolina.
MountainTrue champions resilient forests, clean waters and healthy communities in the Southern Blue Ridge. In the wake of Hurricane Helene, MountainTrue is dedicated to addressing the urgent needs of our community.
With our deep roots in the area, strong partnerships, and a collaborative approach, we are committed to tackling the immediate crisis and laying the groundwork for a resilient future in Western North Carolina and the Southern Blue Ridge.
What We Do
- Our program areas include: Clean Waters, Resilient Forests and Healthy Communities
- We employ 4 Riverkeepers throughout the Southern Blue Ridge
- Clean Waters team: monitors bacteria, publishes weekly swim guide results during Summer Months, organizes river clean-ups and more
- Resilient Forests team: helps eradicate invasive plants; monitors the Forest Service Plan
- Healthy Communities: works on sustainable and affordable housing & transportation. We just launched our new Neighbors program in 2023
