Who We Are

Mission: To put God’s love into action, Habitat for Humanity brings people together to build homes, communities and hope.

Asheville Area Habitat for Humanity, founded in 1983, is a non-profit ministry that fosters community by partnering with families and individuals to build new houses and preserve existing homes in Buncombe County. Habitat for Humanity envisions a world where everyone has a decent place to live.

What We Do

Asheville Area Habitat for Humanity conducts three primary programs to accomplish its mission:

  • Home Ownership Program: Promotes home ownership by partnering with homebuyers who are eligible, building new homes, and selling them to those homebuyers at no profit, allowing for affordable mortgages.
  • Home Repair Program: Provides home repair assistance to eligible Buncombe County homeowners including exterior painting/staining, interior and exterior repairs, floor repair, HVAC work, roof repairs, and modifications for accessibility.
  • Asheville Habitat Restore: Sells donated home goods and building supplies at affordable prices to the general public, generating funds used for Habitat’s building programs and administrative expenses.
