Who We Are

Mission: To serve those who are poor and vulnerable.

Catholic Charities in Asheville, a service location of Catholic Charities Diocese of Charlotte, is a Christian ministry of charity, service, and justice dedicated to providing help to those in need, hope to those in despair, and inspiration for others to follow. Catholic Charities offers services to anyone in need regardless of religious or political affiliation, gender, race, age, disability or national origin in the twelve westernmost counties + Qualla Boundary.

What We Do

Catholic Charities assists individuals and families in need by providing a variety of supportive services, including:

  • Case management: Individualized assistance to address challenges associated with poverty including food, safe and affordable housing, employment and income, education, and accessible health care through personalized goal setting.
  • Bilingual licensed clinical counseling: for individuals, couples and families both virtual and in-person on a sliding fee scale.
  • Burial and cremation assistance
  • Elder Ministry: promoting the well-being of older adults through education and incontinence supplies.
  • Free food, pet food, diaper and hygiene ministry: distributions both on-site through a weekly by-appointment food pantry, and off-site events in partnership with MANNA Food Bank. 
  • Immigration services: low-cost consultations for adjustment of status (green cards and citizenship), family petitions, travel and employment documents, TPS and DACA.
  • Refugee resettlement: welcoming refugees and their families with support services to facilitate successful integration.
  • Adoption Services: Supports for both domestic and international adoptions, including pre-adoption, placement, and post-adoption assistance.
