Mission: The Alzheimer’s Association leads the way to end Alzheimer’s and all other dementia — by accelerating global research, driving risk reduction and early detection, and maximizing quality care and support.

The Alzheimer’s Association is a nonprofit voluntary health organization working in Alzheimer’s and other dementias care, support, and research. Our vision is a world without Alzheimer’s and all other dementia. The Western Carolina Chapter serves 49 counties in central and western North Carolina.

Alzheimer’s Association, Western Carolina Chapter helps those facing Alzheimer’s disease and other dementias by providing care and support services, offering educational resources, and advancing crucial research and public policy initiatives. Services include:

• 24-Hour Helpline provides people with memory loss, caregivers, health care professionals, and the public information and emotional support, including answers to questions about Alzheimer’s or related neurological disorders.
• Information and Referral Services provide up-to-date literature on Alzheimer’s and related memory loss disorders, and referrals to community resources.
• Care Consultations provide guidance throughout the journey with Alzheimer’s to enhance the quality of life for all who are affected.
• Caregiver Support Groups, which are free and open to the public, provide opportunities for caregivers to receive emotional support, share their experiences, and learn from one another.
• Respite Referrals link caregivers of individuals with Alzheimer’s Disease to information about respite services in their areas.
• Community and Family Education includes free programs for learning about Alzheimer’s and related disorders, coping strategies for persons with dementia and caregivers, current research, and brain health.
• Professional Education includes training on a wide range of topics related to dementia and provides continuing education contact hours.
• Advocacy for quality Alzheimer’s care, education, and research is done at the local, state, and national levels.
• Alzheimer’s Association TrialMatch™ provides comprehensive clinical trial information and an individualized trial matching service for people with Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias.
