Volunteer: Front Desk Volunteer

Homeward Bound is a non profit organization dedicated to the mission of ending homelessness in Buncombe County. At our AHope Day Center, people experiencing homelessness can access services such as meals, mail service, access to lockers for their belongings, showers, areas for rest, and case management focused on finding housing.


The front desk volunteer helps case managers with front desk duties in order to allow case manager to focus on client housing conversations, client housing paperwork, and data collection. Shifts are available Monday through Friday from 8am to 1pm, with short shift options available.


Volunteer Responsibilities:

Label and plug in client electronics for charging

Help client access assigned lockers as requested

Locking up and labeling bikes for clients

Helping tidy the floor as services commence

Other administrative tasks as needed to support case managers



Requirements:

List anything that will be required of the volunteer for them to start volunteering with your organization

Brief onboarding and training

Reliable transportation


Skills Required: 

Positive and compassionate customer service skills

Example: Excellent written, verbal, and non-verbal communication skills

List working conditions, physical and mental

Example: Ability to remain standing for long periods
