United Way is recruiting and managing volunteers to support the United for Youth (U4Y) Community Engagement Block Party in Pack Square on Friday, August 7th. During this family-friendly event, volunteers will participate in setting up, checking in participants, handing out programs, assisting staff, and much more!
This event is an evening celebration of our community and brings together community partners, students, and families. Collectively, we are working alongside one another to achieve our co-created Bold Community Goal, that all students in Buncombe County will graduate from High School ready to pursue their goals and dreams. Shift Times and Descriptions: *View and sign up for specific shifts below Please make sure to arrive at the Volunteer Hub 15 minutes prior to your shift start! Volunteer: United Way ABC: Front Desk/Office Volunteer NeededWe have many people coming to our building looking for resources and wanting to help with relief efforts and more. We are looking for volunteers to help with evolving daily operations of our offices.
Morning (9:00 - 12:30) and afternoon (12:30 - 4:00) shifts available
Volunteer Responsibilities: An overview of the work of the United Way will be provided by the Volunteer Engagement Manager Orientation and training will be provided by office staff at the beginning of each volunteer shiftPerform a variety of clerical tasks, such as but not limited to conducting inventory, making phone calls, and maintaining the sanitation protocol in the common areas of the office and organizing the mailroom and front desk area.Packaging supplies for volunteers, community partner organizations, and office staff membersSupport other department within the United Way as required. If an assignment is of a confidential nature, you may be asked to participate in a background screening.Volunteer Requirements: Outgoing, friendly, and helpful demeanor Excellent verbal communication and clear direction-giving skills Comfortable interacting with diverse groups of people Attire: Please wear clothing that is between business casual and casual. There are members of our offices that have allergies and sensitivities to fragrances please be mindful of perfumes, lotions, fragrant perfumes. Keep in mind that you'll be in an office space but also will want comfortable shoes for walking around.
