Please do not show up unless you have personally spoken with a Volunteer Coordinator, training is required.


You are invited to help out at our Crisis Ministry by organizing our food pantry and creating food boxes for those who need them.


Shifts are generally Monday-Friday, 8:30AM-12:30PM or 12:30PM-4:30PM but we will gladly work with your schedule.


Volunteer Responsibilities:

Sort and stock donations (food, hygiene items, clothing, household goods).

Check expiration dates and ensure food safety standards are met.

Assemble food boxes for distribution.

Restock shelves and organize pantry areas to keep them tidy and accessible.

Monitor inventory and report low-stock items to staff or the coordinator.

Our mission is to restore hope and rebuild lives in North Carolina and surrounding communities by providing vital assistance, fostering community collaboration, and promoting preparedness for future disasters.


The Valley Hope Foundation is seeking volunteers for aid and food distribution in our Black Mountain Warehouse. Each week we process and distribute food to between 5,000 and 8,000 families impacted by Hurricane Helene - and we need your help! Come help us sort pallets of food and produce, and serve it to the public. Our weekly scheduled volunteer hours are Tuesday from 10:00Am-3:00pm, with ample flexibility! Volunteer: Free Community Market First Shift - Opportunities for February 2026

The Free Community Market At Montmorenci UMC is a MANNA Partner Agency.  We provide a free choice pantry in a market format every Wednesday for Food Insecure neighbors in Hominy Valley and surrounding communities.  Our goal is to create healthier, happier families and a more productive community by providing access to nutrient dense food for all our neighbors.  We have been in operation since March 2013 and currently serve about 110 households (460 persons weekly.)  Our community is "trilingual": English, Spanish, and Ukrainian.  

In the first shift of the day, volunteers will assist in setting up the Free Community Market.  This involves: unloading food; sorting, arranging, and storing food; setting up shopping stations and parking areas; and beginning client intake process. Indoor and outdoor tasks are available. 

Requirements:

Skills Required:

Volunteer: Haywood Street Congregation Companion at the Downtown Welcome Table WEDNESDAYS

We are currently undergoing renovations! At this time, all opportunities to serve are OUTSIDE. Please dress accordingly (rain or shine). 

The Downtown Welcome Table is a family style meal where everyone is welcome to the table to experience a dignifying, abundant meal served on East Fork Pottery with freshly rolled linens and silverware. 

Companions are invited to help serve at the DWT, Hair Salon, Art Room, and Coffee Area each Wednesday. We refer to everyone as Companions to create a culture of prioritzing Relationships, Above all Else. Please join us for lunch - you are invited to "be with" before you "do for."

Upon arrival, please introduce yourself at the Welcome Station in front of the sanctuary. We offer Welcome Visits each Wednesday at 9:00 am and 11:00 am. 

Lunch on Wednesdays is served from 10am-12:30pm. Companions are needed from 7 am-2:30 pm. 

7:00 am - 9:00 am : Help serve coffee, set up canopy tents for art room, bring out tables. 

9:00 am - 11:00 am : Help set up for the DWT, serve lunch, clean campus.

11:00 am - 2:30 pm : Serve the DWT, Offer desserts and drinks, pick up trash, clean up post meal at 1:00 pm.

The Free Community Market At Montmorenci UMC is a MANNA Partner Agency.  We provide a free choice pantry in a market format every Wednesday for Food Insecure neighbors in Hominy Valley and surrounding communities.  Our goal is to create healthier, happier families and a more productive community by providing access to nutrient dense food for all our neighbors.  We have been in operation since March 2013 and currently serve about 110 households (460 persons weekly.)  Our community is "trilingual": English, Spanish, and Ukrainian.  

In the first shift of the day, volunteers will assist in setting up the Free Community Market.  This involves: unloading food; sorting, arranging, and storing food; setting up shopping stations and parking areas; and beginning client intake process. Indoor and outdoor tasks are available. 

Requirements:

ABCCM Transformation Village provides up to 100 beds of transitional housing and will provide emergency shelter beds.  Transforming lives is through four developmental phases called Steps to Success including stabilization, life skills, education and reintegration.  We are honored to report that 8 out of 10 leave us with a living wage job and permanent housing.

Transformation Village gives hope, healing, health and a home to single women, mothers with children, and female Veterans experiencing homelessness.  We provide residents a fresh start and a place to heal surrounded and supported by Christian love, trust, education and companionship. 

We are seeking energetic volunteers to prepare and serve meals for our residents for lunch and dinner. This opportunity provides you with the chance to prepare meals in our commercial kitchen alongside our trained staff while serving the women and children of Transformation Village.

Volunteer: Homebound Food Delivery Driver

The Council on Aging of Buncombe County strives to create a community where everyone has the opportunity to age successfully. Our Mission is to promote the independence, dignity, and well-being of adults through service, education, and advocacy.


Our Homebound Food program supplies a bag of shelf stable food to seniors once a month. Volunteers will be assigned a route of no more that 10 seniors that they will deliver food to.


Volunteer Responsibilities:

Pickup bags of shelf-stable food from COABC offices once a month and deliver these bags to seniors in need.

Volunteers are able to select what date and time, within our business hours, works best for pickup monthly.

Location:

Our offices are located at 46 Sheffield Circle, Asheville, NC 28803. We are in the lower part of the Chapel on Deerfield Retirement Community's Campus. 

Park in the Chapel parking lot but follow the signs and sidewalk that lead you down the stairs or ramp to the right of the chapel for our main entrance.

*Please do not enter the chapel as we have a separate entrance.

The Council on Aging of Buncombe County strives to create a community where everyone has the opportunity to age successfully. Our Mission is to promote the independence, dignity, and well-being of adults through service, education, and advocacy.


Our Homebound Food program supplies a bag of shelf stable food to seniors once a month. Volunteers will be assigned a route of no more that 10 seniors that they will deliver food to.


Volunteer Responsibilities:

Pickup bags of shelf-stable food from COABC offices once a month and deliver these bags to seniors in need.

Volunteers are able to select what date and time, within our business hours, works best for pickup monthly.
