At Read 2 Succeed Asheville/Buncombe (R2S), we believe all children are capable, brilliant, and worthy of an education that affirms their full potential. We partner with families, schools, and volunteers to support K–5 students across Asheville and Buncombe County in becoming confident, joyful readers.
Public schools—especially those serving Black and Brown students—are under-resourced and impacted by systems that weren’t built for equity. That’s why we’re looking for community members ready to show up with consistency, humility, and respect for the hard work students are already doing to learn to read.
We’re recruiting volunteer reading tutors to commit to one student for the full school year, meeting with them twice a week during or after school. Our tutors are trained, supported, and deeply connected to a network of people committed to literacy justice and educational equity in our community.
