As a United for Youth Partner supported by United Way of Asheville and Buncombe County, Lucy S. Herring partners with community organizations to provide students and families with resources, opportunities, and supports for success. Our school provides opportunities to create strong ties among families, students, schools, and the community while serving as academic and social centers to support innovative learning.
We are looking for up to 100 volunteers across two shifts to join us on Wednesday, August 16th for a day of cleanup at our school. We want students to feel welcomed in a clean and beautiful setting as they return in the fall.
Volunteer Responsibilities:
- Help mitigate and dispose of weeds in garden beds and planters
- Pick up litter around the building and common areas
- Distribute mulch in garden beds as needed
- Various tasks related to clean up as needed
Requirements:

Skills Required:
- Ability to lift up to 25 lbs.
- Bending, twisting, stooping
- Comfortable working outside in all weather conditions
Attire:
- Wear clothes that are comfortable and let you move freely
- Dress for the weather forecast
- Comfortable, close-toed shoes
