The Asheville Dream Center and Asheville Housing Authority collaborating to get much needed supplies to families in our community.
We are seeking volunteers to support donation sorting and distribution at the Edington Center. Volunteer roles include, sorting, organizing, fulfilling supply needs for residents coming in, and unloading trucks. We also need runners to get supplies to residents in their apartment complexes.
Monday through Saturday 10:00 am to 6:00 pm 7 volunteers/shift Shifts are 12:00 pm to 3:00 pm and 3:00 pm to 6:00 pm
Must be 18+
Volunteer Responsibilities:
- Can lift up to 25 lbs for items such as cases of water, pet food, and boxes of food.
- Support with sorting and organizing supplies throughout the distribution center.
- Some volunteers will need to serve as "runners" This individual will get orders from a resident and will fulfill the order and bring it back to the resident while they wait.
Attire:
- Closed Toed Shoes
- Work clothes
Location:
- Edington Center - 133 Livingston St Asheville, NC 28801
- Volunteers are to park behind the center and along the street. Come into the gym entrance on the left hand side from the front of the building. It is on the side of the building off Gaston St.
Health and Safety:
- Stay hydrated and take regular breaks
- Be prepared for physical tasks, and only take on what you can safely manage
- Bathrooms on site
- Snacks and drinks provided
