Description

Big Ivy Community Center serves the local community and surrounding communities in Buncombe and Madison County. We have public grounds as well as public service programs such as our food pantry. We host multiple events and programs throughout the year that are intent on helping our Big Ivy community thrive. Currently we are supporting the surrounding community with comprehensive needs in response to the destruction caused by Hurricane Helene.


We currently have a high need for volunteers to support the management of the laundry service facility, Wednesdays - Fridays between 11:00 and 4:00. Currently there are 2 shifts and volunteers are welcome to sign up for two shifts at a time!

Volunteer Tasks/Duties:

  • Managing the Big Ivy Community laundry facility
  • Take in laundry from community members
  • Wash & fold laundry
  • Keep laundry labeled and organized

Skills/Requirements:

  • Ability to lift 25lbs
  • Customer service skills
  • Comfortable working in a laundry facility
  • Knowledge of how to operate a washer and dryer
  • Ability to follow instructions and manage the space independently
  • Closed-toed shoes advised
  • Family friendly environment
