The Black Mountain Center for the Arts is a community arts hub located in historic downtown Black Mountain, NC, offering classes, exhibitions, performances, and events that connect people with the arts year-round.
First Bloom volunteers help create a welcoming, elegant evening experience for artists, floral designers, and ticket holders at BMCA's exclusive sneak peek event. Depending on your shift, you'll be setting up the event space, greeting and checking in guests, circulating refreshments, or helping wrap up the evening at the end of the night.
Volunteer Responsibilities:
Assist with event set-up, including arranging the refreshment and dessert display and preparing the gallery space
Greet guests at the entrance and verify tickets
Direct guests through the gallery and orient them to the evening's flow
Circulate refreshments and assist guests throughout the event
Answer questions about the exhibit and BMCA
Assist with breakdown and cleanup at the end of the evening
Requirements:
Completion of volunteer waiver and emergency contact form before your shift
Attendance at the June 15 Volunteer Gathering is encouraged
Skills Required:
Warm, welcoming customer service skills
Comfortable speaking with the public and answering general questions
Ability to remain standing and moving for extended periods
Ability to lift up to 15 lbs. (set-up and breakdown volunteers)
Attire:
Smart or dressy casual
Spring colors and floral patterns encouraged
Comfortable shoes suitable for standing and walking
Pin-back name badge required — please wear a top that can be pinned

Hand sanitizer is available throughout the building
Masks are optional; please bring your own if needed
