Disaster Home Repair - House Clean-Out

Originally scheduled for Monday, January 26th, this event has been postponed to the following Monday, February 2nd, due to impending inclement weather. 


Asheville Area Habitat for Humanity is seeking volunteers to support a critical disaster recovery project for a local homeowner. Volunteers will assist with a full house clean-out for a disaster repair client. This work is an essential first step in the repair process and will allow Habitat’s team to safely assess and restore the home.

Volunteers will help remove clutter and household items from the home, including clothing and general belongings. The work is hands-on and physically demanding, involving lifting, carrying, and extended time on your feet.


Volunteer Responsibilities and Requirements:

  • Remove clutter and household goods.
  • Work is hands-on and physically demanding. Please keep in mind.
  • Ability to lift, carry and be on your feet for an extended length.

Attire:

  • Closed toe shoes and comfortable, work/weather appropriate clothing (layers highly recommended!)

Location:

  • Work occurs primarily in Asheville and Buncombe County. Details about location will be shared upon registering to volunteer.

Health and Safety:

  • Each shift begins with a safety briefing.
  • Volunteers will be provided with project guidance and any necessary personal protective equipment.
