Remember those “when I grow up, I want to be” moments when you were in school? Maybe a mentor or school counselor helped you to dream big about what you could become in the future. What we know for sure is that the guidance and encouragement of a caring adult are key in this process. Today, we are asking you to become that caring adult. We need your firsthand experience to help Enka Middle School students understand their options when it comes to careers.
Enka Middle School’s Career Day takes place on Friday, March 13 from 8:00a — 10:30a. We have 24 volunteer openings for engaging speakers to relate what it is they do for a career. We’re looking for folks from diverse careers and backgrounds to present to 7th and 8th grade students. We’d love a variety of careers represented, not just opportunities that require a 4+ year degree.
Your mission if you choose to accept it:
Prepare and give a 10-minute presentation about
- what you do for a living and why/how you personally decided to enter your career field; and
- include such things as the necessary education level, what your responsibilities are and any special skills required to undertake your position.
You will present to 6 groups of students — each group will rotate, you will stay in place. To participate, please respond to this opportunity and the Community School Coordinator will give you all the details you will need.
