Before you even begin thinking about volunteering, ask yourself – Am I well enough to volunteer?

Your safety and limiting the spread of COVID-19 is everyone’s main priority. We encourage you to review and adhere to the recommendations on the Buncombe County readiness site on how best to avoid COVID-19 and what to do if you think you might have it.

Four Seasons is a nationally recognized, non-profit leader in the delivery of co-created care for people with a serious illness. For nearly 40 years, we have provided access to the best advancements in care to the people of Western North Carolina.

Our staff ensures that patients and families going through an incredibly challenging time are cared for. We exist to ensure they are cared for in a home-like setting with a team of professionals that minister to the body, mind, spirit, and emotional components that comprise us all. We create an environment that enables patients and families to say those things that need to be said before they leave this world – things like I love you, thank you, I forgive you, and please forgive me. We work to ensure the patient is as pain and symptom-free as possible.

Provide support to hospice patients and their caregivers in the home. Volunteers are assigned for weekly visits which typically last up to 3 hours. These visits allow the caregiver to run errands, make appointments, and tend to their own wellbeing. Volunteers provide a compassionate, listening ear for life review and storytelling. They also are there as a calming presence while patients are asleep. If you enjoy meeting new people and are comfortable in a variety of situations, this is a great opportunity for you to serve others!

Why does this matter? We have to limit the number of people attending each project. This helps everyone stay safe by following COVID-19 specific safety measures. Please understand that if you show up on-site without registering first, you may be turned away so that the agency can maintain safety procedures.  Safety is our top priority and we want to be sure needs are met while also being safe.
