Volunteer: Help Move Hurricane Helene Survivors Into Temporary Housing

Are you looking for a way to support Hurricane Helene survivors as they rebuild? Volunteers are needed to help a family who have been accepted into the RenewNC Temporary Relocation Assistance program move into their temporary home so construction contractors can begin rebuilding their permanent residences. No prior experience is needed, just a willingness to lend a hand and work as part of a team.

Volunteer Responsibilities:

Move boxes, furniture, and household items into a pod

Move items from moving trucks or vehicles into storage units or the client's new temporary home

Work alongside staff and fellow volunteers to help a family get settled

Requirements:

Complete Shift Registration/Liability Waiver

Ability to lift and carry boxes and furniture weighing up to 50 lbs

Personal transportation to the site

Comfort working in a fast-paced, physical environment

Skills Required:

Teamwork

Respectful engagement with individuals and families

Attire:

Closed-toed shoes and comfortable clothing suitable for physical, hands-on work

What to Bring:

Work gloves

Moving blankets, if available

Other helpful moving supplies, if available

Any personal items you need to stay comfortable during physical work
