Who We Are

Mission: To partner with the community to embrace the school’s diverse population in a caring and engaging environment that is dedicated to creating successful lifelong learners and problem solvers.

Oakley Elementary School is a public elementary school serving students in kindergarten through fifth grades in the Buncombe County Schools System. The school envisions developing high-achieving students who are on-task learners that act safely, are kind kids, and are student leaders in the school and community.

What We Do

Oakley Elementary works to provide a safe, rigorous, and engaging learning environment for all students through the following programs and activities:

  • Academics: Curriculum programming for kindergarten through fifth grades, including reading, writing, mathematics, social studies, science, arts/music, and health/physical education.
  • Instructional Support: Services to individual students and groups, including the academically or intellectually gifted program, exceptional children’s program, counseling services, library/media services, English as a Second Language program, art, PE, and Title 1 program.
  • Dual Immersion Program: Bilingual education in which students are taught literacy and academic content in two languages.
  • Clubs: Out-of-classroom opportunities for students, including Garden Club, which provides experiences with planting, weeding, watering, and harvesting plants, and Math Team, which provides practice with challenging math problem sets and content leading to a formal, school-based math competition.
