Who We Are

Mission: To provide nutritious meals, friendly visits, and safety checks to homebound seniors in the community.

Meals on Wheels Asheville and Buncombe County is a nonprofit organization committed to serving homebound seniors by delivering hot, nutritious meals directly to their homes. Established to address food insecurity and social isolation among older adults, the organization plays a crucial role in supporting the health and well-being of seniors who may otherwise struggle to access nutritious food.

Meals on Wheels Asheville and Buncombe County relies heavily on community support, donations, and volunteers to continue its mission of helping seniors age with dignity, maintain their independence, and live in their own homes for as long as possible. The organization serves as a trusted resource in the community, enhancing the quality of life for hundreds of seniors each year.

What We Do

In addition to meal delivery, the program offers friendly visits and safety checks, ensuring that seniors not only receive essential nutrition but also regular human interaction, which can help reduce feelings of loneliness. Volunteers and staff deliver meals five days a week, providing a critical lifeline for many seniors who are living independently but may have limited mobility or health challenges.
