Who We Are
The Buncombe County Volunteer Organizations Active in Disaster (BC-VOAD) promotes cooperation, communication, coordination and collaboration, and fosters more effective delivery of services to communities affected by disaster. Our mission is to coordinate a network of mutually supportive and informed allies to meet the needs of all Buncombe County residents before, during, and after emergencies. We serve Buncombe County and its neighbors.
What We Do
- Training: Facilitating Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) Training and providing networking opportunities.
- Risk Assessments: Process to identify potential hazards and analyze what could happen if a hazard occurs – Pre emergency event
- Bridging Gaps: Communicating with members in order to bridge gaps between unmet needs and available resources – During emergency event
- Needs Assessments: Used to determine needs, examine their nature and causes, and set priorities for future action to create more resilient communities – Post emergency event
