What We Do

UNETE’s programs include:

  • Mentoring and Nurturing Our Students (M.A.N.O.S.): Established in 2009, this program empowers Latino youth to pursue higher education and careers by providing mentorship, support, and resources. It fosters academic achievement, social engagement, and community accountability through activities like tutoring, leadership development, and workshops on financial literacy and college readiness. The program has supported 275 students, leading to higher GPAs, increased college acceptance rates, and greater career readiness. By addressing the achievement gap and encouraging educational success, M.A.N.O.S. contributes to building a more diverse and inclusive workforce.
  • Freedom, Advocacy, Resilience for Our Students (F.A.R.O.S.): This program supports Erwin Middle School Latino students in navigating challenges related to identity, academics, and emotional growth, helping students transition to high school with less anxiety. Focused on promoting freedom, advocacy, and resilience, the program offers mentorship, academic tutoring, leadership development, and college exploration. Workshops on financial literacy, college admissions, and career readiness equip students with tools for higher education and career success. By addressing barriers for underserved communities, F.A.R.O.S. fosters academic achievement and social equity, contributing to a more inclusive society.
  • De Mujer a Mujer NC: Founded in 2016, this grassroots volunteer-based community group empowers Latina women in North Carolina through support, education, and advocacy. The program provides a safe space for women to share experiences and offers services like counseling, workshops, health screenings, and legal assistance to promote well-being. By addressing issues such as domestic violence, healthcare disparities, and immigrant rights, the organization fosters equity, solidarity, and empowerment within the community.
