Who We Are

Mission: To provide supportive and enriching Adult Day Services enabling older adults to age in place.

MountainCare Adult Care is a service of MountainCare, a nonprofit organization operating in western North Carolina with a mission of caring for western North Carolina neighbors. MountainCare brings together several critical services in the region that reach a wide range of audiences across age, ability, and income levels. In addition to Adult Care, those services include Grief Support, Music Therapy, and the Rathbun House, a hospitality house for families and caregivers of patients receiving care at one of three local hospitals. MountainCare envisions providing the best possible care to the people who are served.

What We Do

MountainCare Adult Care Services include the following:

  • Adult Day Centers: Full-day facilities, located in Buncombe, Henderson, and Transylvania Counties, for adults who are aging or who have impairments, where participants receive physical care and monitoring, enjoy nutritious meals, and have opportunities to interact with others and participate in stimulating activities such as exercise, book clubs, veteran meetings, crafts, drama club, gardening, and games.
  • Mountain Explorers: A structured day program providing socialization opportunities, community outings, mental stimulation, exercise, and enrichment activities for adults with mild impairments.
  • Caregiver Support Groups: Education, support, counseling, and peer interaction provided to caregivers in a monthly group setting.
