Who We Are
Mission: To prevent child abuse, strengthen families, and promote the overall well-being of children through various support services, including foster care, adoption, and family preservation programs.
CARING for Children is an Asheville affiliate of Eckerd Connects, a nonprofit organization working nationally to provide and share solutions that promote the well-being of children, young adults, and families in need of a second chance. Eckerd Connects’ vision is that for every child and young adult, the opportunity to succeed becomes a reality.
What We Do
CARING for Children uses a variety of settings to provide help for children and families dealing with family conflict, abuse, neglect, behavior problems, or mental health issues. Key programming features of CARING for Children include the following:
- Angel’s Watch: Angel’s Watch is a voluntary program dedicated to supporting children ages 0-10 during family crises. Temporary placement in licensed host homes for up to 90 days.
- Respite Care: The Respite Scholarship Program supports families with children facing health challenges by providing scholarships for quality respite services. These funds offer temporary relief to parents, reinforcing developmental skills and reducing negative behaviors.
- Foster Care: Caring for Children’s Family Foster Care program offers services to children in the custody of the Department of Social Services in North Carolina, Buncombe County. Providing long-term foster care placements, we support children as they await reunification with parents or the location of an appropriate guardian, or until adoption.
