Helpmate

Mission: To eliminate abuse and fear by providing safety, shelter, and support for victims/survivors of intimate partner domestic violence.

Helpmate is a nonprofit organization addressing intimate partner violence in Buncombe County. Helpmate is an onsite partner at the Buncombe County Family Justice Center. 

Helpmate offers numerous free and confidential services for people who have experienced intimate partner violence, including people of any race, ethnicity, national origin, religion, level of ability, age, sexual orientation, or gender identity. These services include:

• 24-Hour Hotline
• Emergency shelter for adults and their children
• Individual and group counseling
• Case management and advocacy support 
• Child and family advocacy
• Court advocacy
• Training for professionals and community leaders
• Preventive education for at-risk groups including youth groups (both school and community based groups)
