Mission: To provide a nurturing and inclusive learning environment where all students can achieve academic excellence and personal growth.
North Buncombe Elementary School (NBES), located in Weaverville, North Carolina, is part of Buncombe County Schools and serves students in grades kindergarten through fourth grade. The school is dedicated to creating a positive and inclusive environment where students feel supported in both their academic and personal development.
What We Do
NBES serves children in kindergarten through fourth grade, providing curriculum in reading, writing, mathematics, social studies, science, art/music, and health/physical education. The school also provides additional instructional supports and extracurricular activities, including:
- English as a Second Language Program: Assistance to students for speaking, listening, reading, and writing fluently in English.
- Academically and Intellectually Gifted Program: Enrichment activities designed to meet student needs through Problem Solvers groups (grades K – 2) and Cluster groups (grades 3 – 4).
- Counseling Program: Individual counseling, group counseling, and classroom guidance lessons for students needing support.
- Exceptional Children’s Program: Specially designed instruction to meet the unique needs of children with disabilities.
- Library/Media Services: Support to students promoting their information literacy.
- Clubs: Opportunities for students to collaborate and learn outside of the classroom environment, including Art Club, Battle of the Books, Chorus, Girls on the Run, Garden Club, and Technology Club.
