Who We Are

Mission: To preach the gospel of Jesus Christ and to meet human needs in His name without discrimination.

The Salvation Army in Asheville is a nonprofit organization, an evangelical part of the universal Christian Church, working in Buncombe County to serve people in need of food, clothing, and shelter. The Salvation Army endeavors to do the most good without discrimination and envisions partnering with Asheville city to build bridges, ignite change, and serve well. 

What We Do

The Salvation Army serves the community through a variety of programs, including:

  • Emergency Shelter: Lodging, food, and basic hygiene resources for adults, veterans, and children in need, including individuals who are homeless.
  • Food Pantry and Financial Assistance: Meal supplementation through access to canned goods and fresh produce, sit-down programs with hot meals, and mobile meals; vouchers for clothing; and financial assistance for rent and utilities.
  • Holiday Help: Assistance during the holidays through initiatives such as Angel Trees for collecting new clothes and toys, Red Kettles for raising funds for family financial assistance, and food and grocery assistance.
