YWCA of Asheville is dedicated to and provides programs and services in the areas of eliminating racism, empowering women, nurturing children, and promoting health:
- Eliminating Racism: Initiatives designed to promote the understanding of racism and racial justice, including Racial Justice Workshops and the annual Until Justice Just Is (UJJI) campaign.
- Supporting Economic Empowerment: Programs for women such as Mother Love, which provides mentoring and support for pregnant and parenting teens; Getting Ahead, which provides discussions on financial decision-making; and Empowerment Childcare, which provides free childcare for parents experiencing transitions, continuing their education, accessing social services, or looking for employment.
- Nurturing Families: High quality early care and education provided through a childcare center serving infants through preschool age children and a center providing hourly childcare for busy parents.
- Promoting Health and Healing: Health and wellness programs such as the Diabetes Wellness and Prevention program, the YWCA Fitness Center, and aquatics activities.
Additionally, YWCA of Asheville engages in advocacy to improve the lives of women, girls, and people of color in Asheville, Buncombe County, and across the nation. Advocacy issues include racial justice and civil rights, early care and education, voter engagement, empowerment and economic advancement of women and families, health and safety of women and families, and LGBTQ rights.
