Who We Are

Mission: To promote the welfare of children and youth in home, school, and community.

Asheville Middle School  (AMS) is a middle school serving grades 6 – 8 in the Asheville City Schools district. The vision of AMS is to be a school where a strong, kind, and healthy community inspires dreams. AMS aims to create a community where members embrace their strengths, recognize their potential, and thrive in pursuit of dreams. AMS strives to develop inquisitive, knowledgeable, caring, and innovative students who will be competitive in a global society.

As a community school supported by United Way of Asheville and Buncombe County, Asheville Middle School partners with community organizations to provide students and families with resources, opportunities and supports for success. Community schools create strong ties among families, students, schools, and the community, while serving as academic and social centers to support innovative learning.
