Who We Are
Mission: To create an atmosphere where students are engaged in hands-on activities, questioning, and making connections between academics and the real world.
Candler Elementary School is an elementary school located west of Asheville in the Buncombe County Schools system. The school strives to provide individual and small-group instruction so that accommodations may be made to address students’ academic strengths and needs, specific learning styles, and cultural practices.
What We Do
Candler Elementary School serves students in kindergarten through fourth grade, providing a curriculum for each grade that includes reading, writing, mathematics, social studies, science, art/music, and health/physical education. Additional instructional supports include:
- Exceptional Children’s Program, providing students individualized curricula and supports.
- Library Media Center, providing students access to a variety of print, visual, and online resources supporting student learning.
- Academically and Intellectually Gifted Program, providing academic enrichment for students needing curriculum differentiation.
- Counseling Program, providing students’ academic, social, and emotional growth through classroom guidance, small groups, and individual counseling.
English as a Second Language Program, providing support in English language acquisition for students whose primary language is one other than English.
