Who We Are

Mission: To work together to provide opportunities that support students’ academic, social, emotional and physical growth.

Enka Intermediate School, located west of Asheville in the Enka district of Buncombe County Schools, serves children in fifth and sixth grades. We hope that students and staff will invest in learning. We want to be the flagship for igniting success. Our vision is that our community will collaboratively foster academic growth, student leadership, and student engagement while providing a safe learning environment for all.

Enka Intermediate is a member of the Asheville Buncombe Middle Grades Network, which utilizes a collective impact strategy that brings together Asheville City Schools, Buncombe County Schools, and community partners around a shared vision of creating success-ready 9th-graders and improving graduation rates.

What We Do

Other student services include a school counseling program, an academically and intellectually gifted program, and a STEM program. The school also provides additional experiences for students including the following:

  • Free Horizons After School Program: No-cost, after-school enrichment activities and academic resources, including club activities, study hall, tutoring, social/emotional learning activities, and community classes.
