We are seeking volunteers to assist NECHAMA - Jewish Response to Disaster's ongoing efforts to muck and gut as well as do debris removal and portions of home rebuilding in and around (up to an hour drive) Asheville. No experience necessary, but this is manual labor.
Our site locations shift regularly, so please email robyn@nechama.org if you plan on volunteering. Please also fill out the NECHAMA volunteer waiver.
Volunteers must be 14 years old or older. Minors must be accompanied by an adult.
Volunteer Responsibilities:
Muck and gut homes
Debris removal
Portions of home rebuilding, including hanging and floating drywall, priming, painting, and installing flooring and trim
Requirements and Skills
Must be able to do manual labor
No construction experience required, but should be comfortable with power tools and mold remediation chemicals (or willing to learn)

Health and Safety:
We will provide all PPE, tools and materials
Our volunteers will work with power tools, but a safety and instruction briefing is held for all tool use
All volunteers are supervised by a NECHAMA staff member; our safety history is impeccable but all sites have a minimum of two first aid kits
Our sites generally have cell phone service
Some NECHAMA sites will not have a bathroom or running water, but we can direct you to a gas station nearby
