Before you even begin thinking about volunteering, ask yourself – Am I well enough to volunteer?
Your safety and limiting the spread of COVID-19 is everyone’s main priority. We encourage you to review and adhere to the recommendations on the Buncombe County readiness site on how best to avoid COVID-19 and what to do if you think you might have it.
The Salvation Army is looking for volunteers to assist with the Angel Tree Holiday Opportunity. The Salvation Army will have a booth at the Asheville Mall, where individuals or families can pick up "Angels" from the tree and fill the needs of that child. This will also be the place to return the gifts once they have purchased them for a family, as well. The Salvation Army will need volunteers to monitor this booth every day from November 18th thru December 19th.
Volunteer roles include:
- Volunteers will greet potential donors
- Volunteers will assist donors in picking out an Angel off of the tree, if needed
- Volunteers will record in the Angel Tree book the name of donor and the Angel that was adopted
- Volunteers will hang new Angels on tree, when needed
- Volunteers will provide prepared information about Angel Tree, The Salvation Army, and directions about adopting an Angel
- Volunteers will collect new clothes and toys and store them in designated area
- Volunteers on 12/21 and 12/22 will be distributing gifts and food to Angel Tree families.
Safety:
- We are asking volunteers to wear/bring their own face covering
- Bandanna covering nose and mouth
- Cloth covering nose and mouth
- Fabric or disposable face mask
- Hand sanitizer is available on site
- Asking volunteers to maintain social distance guidelines of 6 feet or more
