United Way of Asheville & Buncombe is not hosting or organizing this event but is supporting it by helping Mountain Bizworks recruit volunteers.

Volunteers will assist in providing crowd control for the festival. Shifts are 2½ hours.

Volunteer Responsibilities:

  • Six areas around Pack Square Park need to have required dedicated Crowd Managers.
  • Duty: Removing barricades for emergency vehicle access.
  • Volunteers can bring a chair and comfortably fulfill most hours.

Requirements:

  • Crowd Manager Training:

    • Completion of a certification course is mandatory.
    • The certification course is free. 
    • Course duration: Approximately 1 hour for slides + 30 minutes for quizzes.
    • Quiz topics include:
      • Unlocking doors and planning emergency routes.
      • Maintaining composure and preventing panic.
      • Ensuring exits open outward and understanding crowd control vs. crowd management.
      • Overview of Life Safety Systems.

Skills Required: 

  •  Complete the aforementioned training

 Attire:

  • Comfortable clothing for any kind of weather
