United Way of Asheville & Buncombe is not hosting or organizing this event but is supporting it by helping Mountain Bizworks recruit volunteers.
Volunteers will assist in providing crowd control for the festival. Shifts are 2½ hours.
Volunteer Responsibilities:
- Six areas around Pack Square Park need to have required dedicated Crowd Managers.
- Duty: Removing barricades for emergency vehicle access.
- Volunteers can bring a chair and comfortably fulfill most hours.
Requirements:

Crowd Manager Training:
- Completion of a certification course is mandatory.
- The certification course is free.
- Course duration: Approximately 1 hour for slides + 30 minutes for quizzes.
- Quiz topics include:
- Unlocking doors and planning emergency routes.
- Maintaining composure and preventing panic.
- Ensuring exits open outward and understanding crowd control vs. crowd management.
- Overview of Life Safety Systems.

Skills Required:
- Complete the aforementioned training
