Description

We are seeking volunteers for the YWCA MLK Day of Service on Monday January 15, 2017 from 9 am - 2 pm. As part of our annual event we will honor and celebrate the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King with our Primary Enrichment Program (After School students in K - 5th grade). Volunteers will spend the day with our PEP students on activities that emphasize the importance of the civil rights movement and the life and work of Dr. Martin Luther King. Refreshments will be provided.

Peace & Rally March
Volunteers will then work with our PEP students to create banners, signs and posters before marching in the MLK Peace March and Rally in downtown Asheville at 12 pm from St. James AME Church at Martin Luther King Drive to City-County Plaza to hear speakers on justice and peace. After the march, the student's designs will be on display in the YWCA Asheville atrium for the community to view.
