Are you looking for an excuse to knit or crochet for a good cause? Help make baby and adult hats to support at-risk newborns and homeless adults.
Completed baby hats and other knitted items will be given to new mothers in celebration of their completion of the Centering Pregnancy program for prenatal care, offered at WNCCHS and MAHEC. These new moms meet together, learn care skills, participate in facilitated discussion, and develop a support network with other members. Centering Pregnancy is a model of prenatal care that includes a traditional health checkup with additional time and attention in a group setting.
Adult hats, scarves, and slippers will be distributed by Homeward Bound of Asheville to men and women served at the A HOPE Day Center. Your handmade knitwear will keep our neighbors warm during our long winters.
- Youth volunteers age 12+ are able to attend with an adult volunteer. All youth ages 17 and under are required to bring a youth waiver to this project.
