Housing Authority of the City of Asheville's mission is to provide safe, quality, and affordable housing, to expand available resources, and to collaborate with the community to create opportunities for resident self-reliance and economic independence.
We are seeking volunteers to support large-scale hot meal distribution to local housing and local income neighborhoods. Volunteers will help fill to-go containers with hot meals, box and count them, and drive them to nearby neighborhoods to deliver to residents. They will work directly with Housing Authority of the City of Asheville staff and community organizers.
Age 14 years old and up. Minors allowed if with an adult.
Volunteer Responsibilities:
Fill to-go containers with hot meals
Drive to nearby neighborhoods to deliver meals to residents
Requirements:
Some volunteers required to lift up to 25-40lbs
Chairs available for those who cannot stand for long periods.
Attire:
No special clothing requirements
Closed-toed shoes if possible
Location: The Arthur R. Edington Center is located at 133 Livingston St. Asheville, NC 28801. It is readily accessible by nearby roads. Park outside along Livingston or Gaston roads adjacent to the center.
Health and Safety:
Volunteers will be with a buddy to support meal delivery. No exposure to medical needs.
