OnTrack WNC Financial Education & Counseling (OnTrack WNC) is a private, nonprofit agency providing financial education, counseling, and support in 18 counties in western North Carolina. The mission of OnTrack WNC is to help people reach their financial and housing goals so they can overcome crises, afford basic needs, improve money management skills, and make sound financial choices rooted in their values.

Volunteer Opportunity Dates and Times:

  • Wednesdays and Thursdays in November and December (not Thanksgiving week)

  • Two shifts: 9:00 a.m. - 12:00 noon and 12:00 noon - 3:00 p.m.


Volunteer Responsibilities:

  • Volunteers will be working at a disaster relief center, referring people to appropriate housing and personal finance triage resources in response to their individual needs.


Requirements:

  • Volunteers will be required to complete review training materials and have a related conversation with the contact person prior to confirming their specific assignment.


Skills Required: 

  • Positive and compassionate customer service/conversation skills

  • Strong communication skills

  • Ability to interact with a variety of people in different challenging situations


Attire:

  • Casual dress OK. No political or social logos should be visible when representing OnTrack. If you have additional questions, ask your contact person


Location:

  • Buncombe County. The contact person will discuss available locations and specific assignments with volunteers after volunteers sign up for the opportunity.


Health and Safety:

  • Masks are optional. Volunteers must bring their own if needed.

  • Volunteers should bring their own water and snacks.
