Open Hearts Art Center (OHAC) is a 501c3 nonprofit day program in downtown Asheville that has been operating since 2005. OHAC supports adults with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (IDD) Monday through Friday through various art and creative activities.
Volunteer Responsibilities:
Transport one of our participants to and/or from the program.
Pick up participant from their home in Hendersonville and transport them to the downtown studio by 8:45 am.
Pick up participant from the downtown studio by 3pm and transport back to home in Hendersonville.
Requirements:
Must have Drivers License & Registration
Must be able to pass a background check.
Must have own Vehicle. We recommend a mid-size crossover style sized vehicle since this is what her accessibility needs require.
Must be 18+
Skills Required:
Experience with IDD folks is recommended but not required
Empathy, Patience, Compassion, reliability
Attire:
Dress comfortable and presentable- can be casual, daily attire.
Location:
The Open Hearts Art Center studio is located at 217 Coxe Ave Asheville, NC 28801.
The participants address is in Hendersonville and will be disclosed after a volunteer is hired and background checks are completed.
