Born in the aftermath of Hurricane Helene, the Valley Hope Foundation is a 501(c)(3) non-profit established to provide direct assistance to the families and communities of the Swannanoa River Valley.
Our mission is to restore hope and rebuild lives in North Carolina and surrounding communities by providing vital assistance, fostering community collaboration, and promoting preparedness for future disasters.
Volunteers with experience in heavy equipment operation are desperately needed to help the residents of the Swannanoa River valley and the people of Western North Carolina recover from the devastation of Hurricane Helene. Volunteers will be using various machinery and equipment to remove storm debris.
Volunteer Responsibilities:
Assess debris cleanup needs
Cleanup and remove debris using equipment
Assist in general care of equipment during operations
Work with volunteers and staff
Requirements:
Background check
Personal transportation
Orientation
Skills Required:
Experience and/or training with heavy equipment
Ability to lift heavy objects
Ability to stand/sit for long periods
Positive and compassionate communication skills
Harsh weather conditions
Attire:
Comfortable work wear
