At OpenDoors Asheville, our mission is to strengthen community by eliminating opportunity and achievement gaps for students through education.
We provide a range of services including but not limited to tutoring, educational testing, school matching, steam-based enrichment activities, scholarships and college application support and financial assistance. Beginning in kindergarten and continuing through graduate school, we connect students on our roster with the resources they need to thrive in school, graduate, and move into meaningful careers.
OpenDoors AVL is excited to partner with community members who have the desire to serve as tutoring providers and have the skill and presence to support students in K-12. Students request tutors to support them with homework and/or projects in English Language Arts, Math, Science and Civics/Social Studies. Many students benefit from a tutor who can support with organizational skills, as well.
We seek tutors to work with students in-person during the school day or after school. Ideally, a tutor will commit to 1-3 sessions each week. Session length is typically 45 minutes to 1 hour.
