Deliver Meals for Circle of Security Groups (W&TH)

Delivery Drivers Needed!
Help Equal Plates Project deliver meals to the community!

Equal Plates Project is a local nonprofit that purchases from small farms at fair prices, transforms their quality ingredients into nourishing meals, and partners with community organizations to share thousands of meals each week with neighbors facing complex barriers to food access. 

Delivery info: Help us deliver meals to La Milpa & Verner Central in West Asheville! 

  1. For La Milpa (Wednesdays): Arrive at Central UMC Kitchen at 4:30pm until 2/23 to pick up meal and deliver to West Asheville. (We will provide address upon pick up of meal)
  2. For Verner Central (Thursdays): Arrive at Central UMC Kitchen at 4:30pm until 2/23 to pick up meal and deliver to West Asheville. (We will provide address upon pick up of meal)
  • If you choose to use your own vehicle, we will reimburse for gas.
  • Trucks, vans, stations wagons and hatchbacks are preferred as you will need to transport between 2 and 6 styrofoam coolers that measure 15"x17"x24".

Volunteer Responsibilities:

  • Help load meals into your personal vehicle
  • Deliver meals to destination at the required time and unload into receiving spacePresent delivery ticket to destination kitchen staff, as required

Requirements:

  • Orientation: to be completed before you begin your first shift
  • Signed liability waiver: can be completed on site before your first shift
  • Reliable transportation **see note above about vehicles**
  • Valid Driver's License
  • Must agree to maintain privacy of community members

Skills Required: 

  • Promptness to ensure meals are delivered on time
  • Ability to lift 25-30 lbs
  • Positive attitude

Location:  27 Church Street - park in the lot behind the church.  Turn onto Buncombe Street and into the top lot with the fire escape.  Park by the 2 blue dumpsters.  Ring the bell on the black gate by the Equal Plates Project sign.
