United Way of Asheville and Buncombe County invites you to join us for a Day of Connection with Evergreen Community Charter School. This is a great opportunity to come together, give back, and support a local school committed to hands‑on learning, outdoor education, and community connection.
Evergreen Community Charter School fosters a vibrant learning environment where students engage deeply with their community and natural surroundings. By helping refresh key indoor and outdoor spaces, volunteers will directly support Evergreen’s mission to create welcoming, functional areas where students can thrive.
Volunteers will assist with gardening projects to prepare and beautify outdoor learning spaces, as well as painting projects to brighten student bathrooms. Your time and energy will help create a cleaner, more inviting environment for Evergreen’s students and staff.

Volunteer tasks include:
Gardening and Outdoor Refresh Preparing garden beds, clearing debris, rebuilding small retaining areas, and planting flowers or vegetables to support outdoor learning spaces.
Painting Projects Painting the bathrooms to create bright, clean, and inviting spaces for students.
Additional Light Projects Reorganizing, cleaning, or assisting with small tasks if initial projects are completed early.

Volunteers will serve for approximately 4-5 hours.

Personal transportation to the site
Skills Needed
Willingness to work outdoors or paint
Ability to assist with light physical tasks such as cleaning, lifting, organizing, painting, and gardening
What to Wear
Closed‑toed shoes
Long pants
Comfortable clothes suitable for outdoor work
Clothing you don’t mind getting paint on
Optional to Bring
Gardening gloves
Trowels or small gardening tools
Paint-friendly clothing layers or hats
