Description
The American Red Cross is seeking dedicated Volunteer Blood Donor Ambassadors to welcome and support blood donors throughout their donation experience. In this role, you will help create a positive, friendly, and comfortable environment for donors while supporting the lifesaving mission of the American Red Cross. Your efforts will help ensure donors have outstanding experience and are encouraged to return to donate again.
Volunteer Responsibilities
- Welcome and assist donors throughout the blood donation process.
- Support donor registration and check-in activities.
- Answer basic questions and provide information about the donation process.
- Share the impact of blood donation and how it helps save lives.
- Educate donors about blood donation and blood types.
- Monitor donors during the recovery period and provide post-donation care instructions.
- Thank donors for their contribution and encourage future donations.
- Make donor reminder and follow-up calls as needed.
- Help create a positive and welcoming donor experience at blood drives.
Requirements
- Be available to volunteer approximately 10 to 20 hours per month.
- Demonstrate reliability, professionalism, and a commitment to serving others.
- Attend required training sessions and team meetings.
- Follow American Red Cross program standards, policies, and procedures.
Skills Needed
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with staff and volunteer leadership.
- Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities.
- Comfortable interacting with individuals from diverse backgrounds and experiences.
- Compassion, empathy, and a donor-focused approach to service.
- Ability to remain calm, friendly, and professional in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent customer service skills and attention to detail.
