Description
The American Red Cross is seeking dedicated Disaster Action Team (DAT)
volunteers to assist individuals and families affected by local emergencies,
such as home fires. Volunteers provide immediate emotional support, financial
assistance, and recovery resources to help those impacted begin the process of
rebuilding their lives.
Volunteer Responsibilities
- Maintain regular communication with team members and leadership.
- Provide care, comfort, and compassionate support to individuals and families affected by disasters.
- Assess client needs and communicate resource requirements to leadership.
- Accurately document activities and complete required casework as assigned.
Requirements
- Attend required DAT trainings, meetings, and team activities.
- Effectively manage time-sensitive situations and provide timely updates on assigned responsibilities.
- Be available to volunteer approximately 10 to 20 hours per month.
- Demonstrate reliability, professionalism, and a commitment to serving others.
Skills Needed
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently while following guidance from supervisors and team leadership.
- Compassion, empathy, and the ability to remain calm in challenging situations.
- Basic organizational and problem-solving skills.
Location
Various locations throughout the WNC region, specific to volunteers county.
