Building Friendships with a Purpose! Be matched with a child age 6 - 15 from a single parent family to do activities 2 times a month for a minimum of 1 year. Volunteers are interviewed, trained and supported when matched. Matches plan activities together and may include sports, crafts, outdoors, baking, local events, and volunteering. Research shows that Big Brothers and Big Sisters help Little's build resiliency, improve self-confidence, improve social skills, increase exposure to new activities, and improve attitude toward school. Youth who have a mentor are less likely to drop out of school and more likely to seek pro-social job opportunities or attend post-secondary education.
