Volunteers are matched with a student at a local elementary school for one hour/week of mentoring during the school year. Teachers refer students who need additional support and encouragement. Volunteers participate in activities that reinforce academics, such as reading and multiplication flash cards, as well as confidence-building and social skill-building activities, such as games, art, and puzzles. BBBS provides training and activity supplies at the site. Volunteers are expected to commit for a year.
