Thank you for your interest in volunteering at Walk MS. The success of Walk MS is directly related to the wonderful volunteers who help make the event a great experience. Families, groups, and individuals are welcome to participate.
Volunteer Positions
Event Set- up (10am - 12pm)
- Join us to set up and prepare the site for the day’s events. (Lifting is involved.)
- Jobs involve unloading and distributing supplies, setting up tents, tables and chairs, and signage.
- Mark the route with lawn flags
- Inflate orange balloons and tie them throughout the event site
- Place orange cones and handicap parking signs around designated parking lot.
- Your help is critical in ensuring that everything is ready to go before the walkers arrive
Parking Attendant (11am - 1pm) (1pm - 3pm)
- Direct cars to park in designated areas.
- Participants may park in Lot #1.
- Handicap parking is Lot #2. (The parking area to the left of the shelter.)
- Move cones for Handicap parking. Please be sure to only allow those with Handicap stickers to park in Lot #2.
- Exhibitors may park in Lot #3. (The parking area to the right of the shelter.)
Registration (1pm - 3pm)
- Assist the MS Society staff with checking-in participants, collecting sealed envelopes, organizing materials
- Volunteer must complete a background check in order to work in this area
Rest Stop (2pm - 4pm)
- Assist Walk MS participants with water as they take a much-needed break at the rest stop.
- Ensure the tent is set-up for shade.
- Bring chairs to the Rest Stop area for participants to sit, if needed.
Clean-up (4pm - 5pm)
- Break down tents.
- Load tables and chairs onto truck (or into shelter.)
- Help load supplies into MS Society truck.
- Monitor the area for clean-up. Pick up any trash.
Wellness Fair
- The MS Community of WNC will host a Wellness Fair. The fair will feature a wide range of local health and wellness groups that can help meet specific needs of people living with MS. Exhibitors will include Nutrition, Home Health Care, Massage, Orthotics, and Disability Advocates.
Food Vendors
- Le Bon Café – a unique coffee wagon serving organic locally roasted coffees and teas
- Ivory Road Cafe & Kitchen – locally owned - scones, muffins and cupcakes made from scratch
- Something Fun Catering – professional, fun and delicious food for any event
- Okie Dokies Smokehouse - good ole BBQ sandwiches and sides from their iconic "Red Wagon"
- The Hop Ice Cream – delicious homemade ice cream made with love

- Miles of Smiles balloon twisting – creative, color, and fun balloon creations
- Songs, Sealed, Delivered – colorful face painting and fun characters
